senior lecturer in the School of Education at Bar-Ilan University. Her professional background includes teaching high school biology and training teachers at both the Hebrew University and Bar-Ilan University. From 1989 to 2004, she served as the Ministry of Education's Chief Inspector for biology instruction and from 1999-2004, she also headed the Science cluster in the Chief Inspectors’ Administration. She was a member of the Dovrat Commission Teacher Training and Professional Advancement subcommittee and served as a science advisor for the PISA 2006 tests in Israel. Her research interests include teachers’ thinking and judgment, evaluation methods, curricula, biology education, science education, and ethical aspects in education of science. Dr. Agrest received her Ph.D. in 2001 in science education from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
