Prof. Miriam Ben-Peretz

Bio sketch:
Professor emerita at the University of Haifa’s Faculty of Education. Prof. Ben-Peretz served as dean of the School of Education at the University of Haifa and founded the university’s Center for Jewish Education and directed the center for ten years. She also served as president of Tel-Hai College and chaired a number of national committees on educational issues. Her research focuses on curriculum planning, the training and professional development of teachers, education policy and Jewish education. She served as visiting professor in the United States, Canada and Germany. Prof. Ben-Peretz chairs the steering committee of the MOFET Institute’s School for Teacher Educators, is a member of the professional committee of the National Authority for Measurement and Evaluation in Education (RAMA) and the board of directors of Zinman College at the Wingate Institute, and is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Education (NAEd). She received her PhD in Education from Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1977. In 1997, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award for Curriculum Studies from the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and in 2006 was awarded the Israel Prize for Research in Education. In 2012, Prof. Ben-Peretz received a Legacy Award for Teacher Education from AERA and was also named an Honorary Fellow of the Open University in Israel.
