The Domain Committee on Language and Literacy held a seminar on the subject of "Spoken and Written Language in a Diglossic Context: Implications for Literacy Acquisition in Arabic" with the participation of Prof. Julie Washington of the University of Wisconsin as well as researchers and professionals in the field.
